For more info on the Carnival or if you want to participate, contact Claire at clindstrom2 {at} gmail {dot} com. Today's post is things we’d like to share with our nurslings about what it means for us to breastfeed. Please read the other blogs in today's carnival listed below and check back for more posts July 18th through the 31st!

To share what nursing my babies completely encompasses in one sentence may not be possible. It's a complex thing. It's emotional, it's physical, and yet it is such a natural and simple act. The love I have for my children may or may not have been the same had I not chosen to breastfeed. I'll never know that. I do know, however, that nursing a sweet baby that is looking into your eyes is like nothing else on earth. When Kurtis was born I was blown out of the water. I remember thinking:

All that my baby needs to survive is the air and me.

With the birth of both of my girls I have reflected on this simple statement that came to me when Kurtis was born. How amazing is that? Maybe that is it. Maybe that's how I say in one simple sentence how I feel about nursing. Nursing my children has been amazing.

I love this! I wish that all moms could internalize this message.

It's so empowering to know we're capable of being that to someone else, isn't it? Quite amazing, indeed.

You captured it way more succinctly that I could! I have loved reading about what breastfeeding means to other mamas... thank you for sharing your beautiful thoughts! I too feel that breastfeeding is empowering--both for me as an individual and collectively for all women.
