Here comes Halloween!

Lila is so excited about Halloween this year. I got out all the Halloween decorations yesterday and she immediately wanted to dress up! Of course she wanted to dress up again today and we'll be dressing up on Thursday for Kurtis' annual school Halloween Parade & then again on Friday for Halloween! Hopefully she'll get her fill! She is definitely related to her Gramma Lois!

First snow of the season!

The first snow of the year! Lila had a blast! Kurtis was at a friend's house & Clarissa didn't even notice! It has warmed back up to the high 60's which will be great for trick or treating!

I think The Violent Femmes got it right...

I-M-N-O-T-H-I-N
I-M-N-O-T-H-I-N
I'm nothing'
I'm nothin'
Are you a republican or a democrat
A liberal fascist full of crap
I'm nothin'
I'm nothin'
Somebody somewhere might be something
But everybody everywhere
Knows that I'm nothin
Politics and dirty tricks
I got no time for stones and sticks
Politics and dirty tricks
I got no time I'm chasing chicks
I'm nothin'
I'm nothin'
Somebody somewhere might be something
But everybody everywhere
Knows that I'm nothing
I'm nothing but I'm not proud
'Cause being nothing it's not allowed
Are you a gay or are you straight
Do you believe in love
Or do you believe in hate
I'm nothin'
I'm nothin'
Somebody somewhere said he was something
But to everybody everywhere
I'm saying I'm nothing
I'm nothing. I'm like a cloud
I'm free to be alone in a crowd
What's your reality. It's not real to me
What's your anomaly. It is my destiny
I-M-N-O-T-H-I-N
I-M-N-O-T-H-I-N
I'm nothin'
Nothin'
Nothin'
I'm nothing now and I'll be nothing when
This nothing world has it's nothing end

Banning China

I feel this Melamine scare is the straw that broke the camel's back. We all know products made in China have higher levels of lead in them. Children's toys are constantly being recalled. Buying products from China takes jobs away from Americans. As if these things are not enough, now we have Melamine. Over 50,000 children in China have become sick from Melamine intake. This is just not a risk I'm willing to take with my children.

I am going to make a commitment for our family to discontinue use or purchase of any products made in China. As the holidays approach I will ask all of our friends and family members to please not buy anything made in China for us or our children. The health risks are just too high. Please watch this video...

APPLESAUCE!

Today was an adventure in applesauce! My friend Rachel Ellis invited me over to make applesauce with her. What fun! The kids all helped and we now have lots of yummy applesauce. Unfortunately, now I want a saucer...

Better late than never...

Here I am in my last trimester of pregnancy with Clarissa. My fabulous friend Rachel took these. I've been a little busy and so I am just now getting around to developing them (film still exists). Her are a few pictures of Lila, my belly and I.

Cloth diapers are so much more fun!

Not to mention they are so much better for baby and the world! They're also a lot cheaper and way easier to use and wash than you'd think. I started using cloth with Lila and did it about 50% of the time. But with a little knowledge I've committed to using them 100% with Clarissa!
Plus, if you looked this cute you'd wear cloth diapers too!

10 things about me...

I was born in Ocala, Florida.

I had an original design of mine in a fashion show in SLC.

I was in the 1st graduating class at Peter Johansen High

I have flat feet.

I nursed my first daughter until she was 27 months old.

I was 20 years old when I became a Mom.

I worked at The Cliff Spa at Snowbird for six years.

I used to sell ocean cargo containers.

I have had a hospital birth, a birth center birth and a home birth.

I can't see past my nose without contacts or glasses.

I did what?

Yes, that's right ladies and gentlemen. I canned fruit. Tomatoes and pears to be exact. I recently got a hair up my ass and decided that I would teach myself to preserve food. It was actually a lot easier than I thought, although quite time consuming. It was very satisfying to see all those jars lined up with pretty colored fruit inside! So, I decided to share.

the joy of motherhood

Here are some more photos from my photo shoot with my friend Timbra. She did an amazing job capturing the girls and I. I am really happy I had the opportunity to take nursing pictures!
