Normalize Breastfeeding! Nurse in Public.

So, it seems I am good at meeting talented people. A friend of mine from La Leche League is a photographer. She happens to be doing a project for the Breastfeeding Coalition of Utah involving photos of nursing Utah mothers to help normalize breastfeeding. Here are a few of the pictures she took of Clarissa and I in our home on Monday.

Twelve years ago today...

I was ready to pop! 12 years ago today I would begin labor in less than 90 hours. These were my last few days of life before motherhood. Kurtis Michael Surber would be born after 42 hours of labor on September 24, 1996 beginning my lifetime career as a Mother. Kurtis was the happiest and mildest baby ever. He would gladly cuddle and nurse for hours at a time. What a sweet chubby baby he was. Now, 12 years later he is an amazing son. I couldn't ask for a brighter, funnier, or more sensitive child. Getting ready to celebrate his twelfth birthday is a bit surreal, but very gratifying!
Here I am at age 20, timing contractions the day before Kurtis' birth!

Giggles and Apple Trees

This is Clarissa at 15 weeks old laughing it up! And... our new apple tree! Kurtis did most of the work to plant this new tree for us yesterday! (Notice that he's almost as big as Jeff? *gasp*)
Jeff & Kurtis spent the afternoon planting a tree and trimming bushes. I'm very excited about the apple tree. Now I guess I have to learn how to preserve fruit! :O

It is very dark, but I couldn't resist catching them! Lila is the one on the left! Enjoy!
