Never a dull moment

Well, summer is officially over for us. Kurtis started school yesterday. Big 6th grader! He seems to be mostly excited about the start of the new school year. Soccer started up today. Kurtis will have two practices a week and games each Saturday.

Lila started a gymnastics class that goes through January. She smiled through every minute of her first class in which they used balls, a parachute, the parallel and uneven bars, mats and balance beam. She has Jeff's coordination.

Jeff is still broken and unhappy about it to say the least. His arm isn't healing properly and more surgery may be in his future. He is back to work on light duty and going to the gym to expend a little energy. And since he can't ride skateboards at the moment, he's collecting them. http://www.creatureskateboards.com/

Clarissa is miraculous! She is nursing like it's going out of style and I'm loving every minute of it! She is obviously getting enough to eat and some might speculate that I'm feeding her butter cream instead of breast milk!

As for me, I'm good. It was a long, hard summer what with the move, the baby and Jeff's injury. But, I made it through. Sometimes I wasn't so sure I was going to, but I did. Now I'm focusing my energies on the kids and on breastfeeding awareness/advocacy. I spent a few days as a volunteer at the Breastfeeding Cafe http://www.utahbreastfeeding.org/cafe.php here in Salt Lake. That was a great experience and I hope that I helped a few moms and babies.

My next adventure will be to take on "aunt-hood" thank you Katie and Chris! I can hear the little voice now... "Aunt Ney Ney, do these shoes look good with this outfit?"

yeah, i used to tell people i made butter and ice cream. . . because alani was well, you know, it's not politically correct to say "fat" but there's just no other word (and you think she was "fat" at 9 or 10 months when you first met her. . . . check "happy do da my guy" a blog in july and you'll see how rolly she was at 4 months). good job making it through summer :)
