Everyone keeps telling me that Clarissa looks JUST like Lila. So, I thought I'd do a little comparison of Clarissa now & Lila at the same age. Looks like they're definitely sisters!

Double Trouble

I found the girls matching shirts for $.99 each at Old Navy & Lila was so excited to wear them it was very cute.
Today is very beautiful outside so we decided to walk to gymnastics class. It's only a few minutes walk, so no biggie, but is was very nice. We got home & Lila promptly fell asleep on the couch.
Here are my trouble makers (well, trouble maker & future accomplice).

A belly cast, a pie, a sarcophagus and Daddy in heels!

There are so many things I want to blog about, so I'm giving you the condensed version of everything (Kind of like world in a minute on the evening news). When I was about 33 weeks pregnant my two girlfriends Shawnda and Rachel came over and helped me do a cast of my pregnant belly. I have finally used the paint from Kurtis' sarcophagus to paint it! On that note, Kurtis is studying ancient Egypt and made a sarcophagus with his cartouche (name) on it for school. The weather has turned cold and so what do I do when I can't go out to play? BAKE (see pie picture)! And last but not least there is no doubt my husband is secure in his manhood. When Lila brought him a pair of my high heeled shoes to wear he happily "went to the dance" with her!

for the love of reading

Yesterday as I was unpacking some boxes in the basement when I found my copy of Where The Sidewalk Ends. Inscribed on the inside cover is this:
To Renee with love from her Dad, with hope that she will always find books as fascinating as I do.

Not only do I love books, but it has been passed on to Lila and Kurtis too. We go to the library weekly and spend the start and end of each day reading, plus much time in between.

Thanks Dad.

Parent Teacher Conference Time

Yesterday was Kurtis' first parent teacher conference for 6th grade. I am happy to say he is continuing his trend & got excellent grades! He got a B in Reading/Language Arts and A's in Social Studies, Math, Science and Technology! We also reviewed his end of year testing for 5th grade. He scored fours in all areas (Language Arts, Math & Science), which is the highest grade you can get! His teacher had this to say of him on his report card: "Kurtis is a joy to have in class. His comments add so much to the atmosphere in our classroom. He is attentive and serious about his education." What more could we ask for!? If you take a look at this report, you can see 4 columns with percentages. Kurtis' grade is under "student" and the columns next to him are the averages of other students in the school, district, and state!

It's beginning to look a lot like WINTER!

I couldn't help myself. I had to post these beautiful pictures from yesterday in our back yard!

Tidbits of our days...

You know you're three when you can fall asleep on your foot with absolutely no consequences later on! Here are a few pictures from our week. Clarissa learned to sit up! She chose election day, wonder if she was sitting for something???

President-elect Obama had my vote!

This presidential election proves no different in our house. Jeff and I are in complete opposition when it comes to politics. After the last election it is safe to say I was heartbroken while Jeff had his moment in the sun. Well, now it is my turn to bask! Last night while watching Obama give his election night speech the excitement was tangible. I felt a shift in energy that cannot be explained. Whether that was an inner, national or global shift who am I to say? But I don't care. There may be a foot of snow outside, but I feel the sunshine!

Walking down memory lane...

After looking up an old friend I got a call today from Dana, who many of you may remember as the maker of the best wedding cake you ever had, or the reason I started doing yoga. It was so fantastic to hear from her and it made me think back. Dana was a big influence on me at the time. She was so unlike anyone I had met up until then, but maybe a lot like the person I am today. She was someone I looked up to and learned from. It is very nice to be back in touch!

Here is Dana with Dolce, her now eight year old daughter.

This is me (and Jeff's broken leg) circa 2001 sitting on Dana's couch in the house on Quail Run that we rented after she moved out of town.
Thanks for calling Dana! Here's to keeping in touch!
Namaste.

Trick or Treat

Halloween was a lot of fun this year. Lila enjoyed getting dressed up and trick or treating as much as Kurtis and I do. We went trick or treating accompanied by Kurtis' friend Jacob. At each stop Lila would run to show me what each neighbor had given her! We lasted once around the block which was perfect for me! We had a few friends over after to hang out & enjoy costumes together. Now it's candy time!
